On October 21, 2025, a Central Airlines Boeing 777F cargo aircraft landed at Katowice Airport for the first time, inaugurating regular service between Chengdu, China, and Poland. The new route operates three to five times a week and is focused on delivering goods for Chinese online platforms.

According to Artur Tomasik, President of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL S.A.), the launch of these flights is the result of several months of preparation and an important step in strengthening cooperation with Chinese logistics operators. He noted that Katowice offers well-developed infrastructure, a favorable location near major European highways, and expedited ground handling and customs clearance procedures thanks to the IOOS H7 system, which allows for the processing of tens of thousands of shipments in just 6-7 hours.

Wang Yinming, CEO of Central Airlines, emphasized that choosing Katowice was a logical step in expanding the carrier’s European network. In 2025, the airport expects a record cargo volume of approximately 45,000 tons, and by 2027, a second cargo terminal with an area of 10,000 square meters is planned to open. Central Airlines, founded in 2020, operates a fleet of five wide-body Boeing 777F aircraft and flies to 52 airports worldwide.
