A meeting between representatives of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the Rail Baltica project’s implementing organizations took place in Vilnius. Following the talks, project coordinator RB Rail AS signed a new grant agreement for the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program in the amount of €295.5 million. The funds will be used to continue construction and technical work in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania: €47.1 million to Estonia, €153.5 million to Latvia, and €94.9 million to Lithuania.

The funding will allow for the continuation of construction of the Rail Baltica main line from Tallinn to the Latvian border, the construction of the roadbed and double track in Estonia, and the development of infrastructure in four southern Latvian sections, totaling 13.3 km. In Lithuania, the funds will be used for the construction of overpasses and railway crossings at the Kaunas junction, design and engineering work, and the acquisition of land for future sections of the route.

RB Rail AS CEO Marko Kivila noted that CINEA’s support allows the project to maintain momentum and advance in key areas in all three countries. CINEA Unit Head Morten Jensen emphasized that the new grant of nearly €300 million will provide a significant boost to accelerate the construction of Rail Baltica, and the next progress review meeting is scheduled for November 2025 in Latvia.
