The 34th meeting of the Joint Commissions of the Border Railways of Kazakhstan and China was held in Almaty, where the results of freight and container transportation were discussed. In the first eight months of 2025, total transportation volume reached 23.2 million tons, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 10%. By the end of the year, the parties plan to transport 35 million tons, 3.6 million more than in 2024, and outlined forecast figures for 2026.
Particular attention was paid to increasing the export of Kazakh products. The parties agreed on measures to expand the transportation of grain, vegetable oil, and other goods in covered wagons, containers, and flexitanks, while maintaining the required loading conditions. Improved document processing and the introduction of paperless technologies to expedite work at docking stations and customs procedures were also discussed.
Furthermore, starting in December 2025, it is planned to organize the transfer of shift workers between border stations to receive and transfer trains, railcars, and cargo in the adjacent territory. This step is aimed at improving the efficiency of the transportation process and reducing train processing time. Following the meeting, the parties signed a corresponding protocol.
