AD Ports Group signed a contract with the Baku Shipyard (Azerbaijan) for the construction of two shallow-draft container ships with a capacity of 780 TEU each, specifically designed for operations in the Caspian Sea. The ships are scheduled to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2027, increasing container capacity and strengthening the trans-Caspian logistics corridor.

Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of AD Ports Group, noted that the new ships will provide increased cargo capacity, improve service reliability, and contribute to the long-term development of regional supply chains.

The project continues the company’s active expansion in Central Asia. AD Ports previously opened the Tbilisi Intermodal Hub in Georgia and signed a trade agreement between the UAE and Azerbaijan. In 2024, bilateral non-oil trade between the countries grew by 43%, reaching USD 2.24 billion, confirming the growth of cargo flows in the region.
