KTZ and KTZ Express strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a key transit hub in Eurasia.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and its subsidiary KTZ Express demonstrate steady growth in transit traffic, turning Kazakhstan into one of the central hubs of Eurasian logistics. In 2023, the transit volume reached 27.5 million tons — 33% more than in 2020, and container transit increased to 1.4 million TEU. According to KTZ forecasts, by 2029 this figure could reach 100 million tons, and transit revenues — more than $6 billion. The key driver will be the completion of the Dostyk-Moiynty project, which will double the volume to 55 million tons in 2026. As part of the railway network modernization program, it is planned to build and upgrade 5 thousand km of highways and repair another 11 thousand km of tracks by 2029.

At the same time, KTZ Express is actively developing its international terminal network, covering the entire East-West route. Terminals have been commissioned in the port of Aktau, Chinese Xi’an, Lianyungang, and projects have been launched in Russia, Belarus and Hungary. Last year, the company’s container transportation amounted to 796 thousand TEU, including record growth on the Trans-Caspian route (358 trains, 33 times more than in 2022). New multimodal and accelerated services have been launched in the direction of China, Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, and innovations have been introduced, including double-deck container platforms and combined delivery.

Important events included the 10th anniversary of the KTZH-Khorgos Gateway dry port, where the capacity was increased from 540 to 800 thousand TEU, and the early launch of the first container hub complex in Aktau with modern RMG cranes. At the same time, the company is implementing digital services through the Single Digital Window platform, which has reduced the terms of concluding contracts by 2.5 times and increased the transparency of operations. In the coming years, KTZ Express plans to expand its terminal network, launch new routes, develop digital solutions and form its own Caspian fleet.
