Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with the Italian Sona terminal near Verona. The partnership cements RCG as one of the key operators at the terminal and provides stable access to the capacity of the rapidly growing logistics hub.

The Sona terminal already offers 110,000 m² for container and intermodal operations, and its capacity is planned to be significantly expanded by 2028. The site will become an important distribution hub with the capacity to launch up to 30 round trips per week to destinations in Southern, Northern and Eastern Europe. The terminal is already included in RCG’s high-frequency TransFER service network: Verona – Vienna, Verona – Hanover and Verona – Wuppertal.

RCG is focusing on rail transport as a sustainable alternative to road transport, reducing the burden on transhipment points, including the Brenner Pass. The development of the infrastructure in Sona not only strengthens RCG’s position in Italy, but also creates additional opportunities for international clients.
