During his visit to Afghanistan, Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu signed a memorandum of cooperation on the construction of a railway line between Central and South Asia. The document envisages the implementation of the Turgundi-Herat-Kandahar-Spin Boldak project, which includes two stages of construction and the creation of a transport and logistics center in Afghanistan.

At the first stage, the parties plan to build the Turgundi-Herat railway, the necessary infrastructure and a logistics hub in Herat. Earlier, Kazakhstan announced its readiness to participate in projects to develop the trans-Afghan corridor, including the Termez-Peshawar and Herat-Spin Boldak lines.
Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan intend to jointly invest in the development of a logistics hub at the intersection of key trade routes between North and South Asia, strengthening the region’s economic ties.
