From 1 July 2025, several European countries will introduce updated toll road systems for trucks, including expanded toll routes, new tariffs, tougher fines and the introduction of CO₂ emission classes. In Belgium, Viapass is revising the rates for all trucks over 3.5 tonnes in the Flanders and Brussels regions, taking into account the vehicle weight and engine emission class. Electric vehicles will remain at zero rate with an active on-board unit.
In Denmark, the fine for non-payment of the toll will double to DKK 9,000 (around EUR 1,200) per day of delay per vehicle. In Lithuania, the toll network will be expanded by 1,151 km, covering a total of 2,851 km of roads.
Slovakia is joining the EU requirements by introducing electronic vignettes linked to CO₂ emissions from 1 July. Trucks will be classified into five categories, from the highest tariff to zero for green transport. Vehicles registered before July 2019 will automatically fall into the most expensive category, with the exception of electric and hydrogen vehicles.
