Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways OJSC Rovshan Rustamov led a delegation to China, where he held a series of meetings with representatives of the country’s leading transport and logistics companies on July 7. During the talks with the management of CRRC and Zhuzhou Locomotive, the expansion of the ADY locomotive fleet, technical cooperation and personnel training were discussed. The parties also touched upon the implementation of the April contract for the supply of seven new locomotives to modernize freight transportation in the context of Azerbaijan’s growing role in international routes.

Special attention was paid to cooperation with the port of Lianyungang, which is a key link in the East-West transport corridor. Since the beginning of 2024, 199 container block trains have already arrived from China to Azerbaijan, and by the end of the year, over 400 are expected. The priority of the regular Lianyungang-Baku railway route is emphasized, especially given the integration of the Baku port into the ADY structure, which allows offering more comprehensive logistics services to international partners.

Also, during the visit, the accession of the Chinese company CRCT to the joint venture Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd., created by the railway companies of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia, was discussed. The parties outlined plans to increase cargo flow, introduce digital solutions and coordinate the infrastructure of ports and railways to improve the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor. The trip of the ADY delegation ended on July 11.
