Ellerman City Liners has opened a new domestic rail connection between Lodz and Gdynia, enhancing the efficiency and reach of its Polish shortsea service iPEX. The project, implemented in partnership with Spedcont and Bahnoperator, is an important milestone in the development of intermodal transport in Poland and Northern Europe. The new line directly connects the Spedcont terminal in Lodz with the GCT container terminal in Gdynia, providing an end-to-end solution from rail to sea.

The official launch of the route took place on 25 June 2025. The service is already operating as normal, ensuring predictability of deliveries, route flexibility and reduced cargo turnaround times. The new corridor is of particular value for shipments to and from the UK, strengthening Ellerman City Liners’ position in the shortsea trade segment.

The project is the result of close cooperation between all participants and demonstrates a common commitment to sustainable, innovative and customer-oriented logistics solutions. The new route facilitates the integration of the Polish domestic market into international transport chains and expands the opportunities for exporters and importers in the region.
