Train Alliance and MSG Terminal have signed a lease agreement for the construction of a new transfer terminal in the Hallsberg Rala logistics area. The project entails an investment of slightly over SEK 20 million (approximately EUR 1.77 million), which Train Alliance will cover. MSG Terminal will lease the facility for ten years, with annual rental and fee payments amounting to around SEK 2.6 million (about EUR 230,000).
26,000 m² terminal with 670-meter track
The future transfer terminal will be situated on a 26,000 square metre plot and equipped with 670 metres of railway track. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
Train Alliance owns more than 900,000 square metres of land in Hallsberg Rala, which is being developed for logistics and railway-connected business operations. Several railway-related facilities are already present within the area.
Mainly for forest product handling
MSG Terminal intends to use the terminal primarily for the loading of forestry products. However, the facility is also designed to accommodate other types of freight.
The site in Hallsberg Rala is located near Sweden’s largest marshalling yard, which enables access to extensive railway connections across the region. The project aligns with ongoing developments in the broader Mälaren Valley region, where interest in rail-based logistics continues to increase.
