According to the results of January-May 2025, the volume of freight transportation on the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) network reached 107 million tons, which is 4.4% more than the same period last year. Domestic transportation amounted to 68.7 million tons, exports grew by 11.4% – to 38 million tons.
The largest contribution to the growth was provided by coal supplies (41.6 million tons, +2.4%), while coal exports increased by almost 19%, to 12.2 million tons. Grain transportation showed record dynamics – 5.7 million tons (+54%), of which 4.5 million tons were sent for export (+62%).
A significant increase was also recorded for other types of cargo: oil – 8.3 million tons (+6.4%), ferrous metals and fertilizers – 2 million tons each with growth of 11.9% and 22.3% respectively, construction materials – 6 million tons (+8.5%). KTZ continues to strengthen its position as a key freight transportation operator in the region.
