In January-May 2025, 22.2 million tons of cargo were transported by rail to Ukrainian seaports. This was reported by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Work of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, during the Ukrainian Transport Forum in Odessa. All currently operating ports are located in the Odessa region – these are the ports of “Greater Odessa” and the Danube harbors.
According to the results of 2024, the volume of rail transportation to ports amounted to 55.5 million tons. The leader was the port of TIS with an indicator of 13 million tons, followed by the ports of Yuzhny (12.2 million tons), Chornomorsk (12 million tons) and Odessa (11.2 million tons).
Most of all, grain was transported to ports by rail last year – 29.3 million tons. In second place is ore (18.4 million tons), third place is occupied by ferrous metals with a volume of 3.6 million tons.
