Poland plans to create the largest logistics hub in Europe based on the railway terminal in Slawków. This was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, emphasizing that after the end of the war in Ukraine, this hub will become a key center for transshipment of goods from Asia, including China. The government pays special attention to maintaining Polish control over the strategic facility.

The terminal infrastructure will be modernized with the participation of the Polish Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and private partners. The investment will increase the throughput capacity from 285,000 to 500,000 TEU per year. The project will be important for the entire region, because Slawków is located at the junction of wide (1520 mm) and European (1435 mm) tracks, which ensures efficient transshipment of containers between Asia, Ukraine and Western Europe.

Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak called these investments the most effective in terms of logistics. They are integrated into the large-scale Silesian railway development programme, which includes 27 projects worth over PLN 14 billion. According to ARP CEO Wojciech Balczun, the total cost of the terminal expansion will be around EUR 1 billion.
