Hungarian company CER Cargo Holding continues to expand its presence on international rail routes and has ordered two Vectron MS electric locomotives from Siemens Mobility, which will join the company’s fleet in December 2026. The new locomotives will be used on cross-border routes along the Danube Corridor and in several Eastern European countries, strengthening the operator’s position in the region.

Currently, CER Group operates six leased Vectrons, but for the first time the company is purchasing locomotives, which will increase autonomy and increase freight capacity. The new 6.4 MW electric locomotives, capable of speeds of up to 200 km/h, support several power supply systems, making them ideal for international transportation without the need to change locomotives at borders.

Siemens Mobility noted that the versatility and energy efficiency of the Vectron MS will strengthen CER Cargo’s market leadership. The company emphasizes that this acquisition is another step towards increasing reliability and eliminating borders as a technical barrier to European cargo.
