Intermodal transport operator Hannibal, part of the Contship group, continues to modernize its equipment at the port of La Spezia by ordering 20 new Terberg YT Series terminal tractors. The delivery of the vehicles is scheduled for the end of 2025 – beginning of 2026 and will be the next step after the first 16 vehicles were delivered in March. The new tractors will be used for shuttle operations at the LSCT container terminal.
The delivery will be provided by the Italian subsidiary of the Terberg group – Manuport, a long-standing partner of Contship. The modern tractors feature an improved cabin with an increased level of comfort and ergonomics, built-in safety systems and a performance monitoring function. In addition, the vehicles are equipped with a fuel saving system that automatically adjusts consumption depending on the weight of the cargo.
According to Contship CEO Matthieu Gassellin, the fleet renewal is an important part of a large-scale project to develop the terminal in La Spezia. In addition to the new tractors, there are plans to upgrade the berthing equipment and introduce digital solutions, which will allow LSCT to meet the requirements of modern logistics.
