Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev held talks with representatives of ALSTOM on the modernization of the country’s locomotive fleet. The discussion focused on the renewal of traction rolling stock and the expansion of cooperation with KTZ-Freight Transportation LLC.

The French company proposed a project for the supply of 205 six-axle electric locomotives of the KZ6A series with a phased implementation in the period from 2029 to 2036. Production will be organized at the Kazakhstani enterprise Electric Locomotive Plant (EKZ), which will ensure a high degree of localization.

The parties agreed on the key terms of a long-term contract, including mutually beneficial obligations and further technical partnership. ALSTOM, a recognized world leader in the field of railway engineering, continues to strengthen its position in the transport industry of Kazakhstan.
