China has launched a new combined freight delivery scheme to Europe, combining rail and air transport. The first freight train departed from Guangzhou International Logistics Port and headed to Sanping Station in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, covering the distance in 66 hours.

After arriving at the station, the cargo is reloaded and delivered to Urumqi Airport, from where it is sent by air to European cities. This approach allows delivery to be completed within a week – three times faster than traditional rail routes, which typically take 15 to 20 days.

The project is part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and is part of the development of the Air Silk Road concept, strengthening China’s logistics ties with Europe.
