TRACECA and Lithuania strengthen cooperation to develop the Eurasian transport corridor.

A meeting between Secretary General Asset Asavbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Azerbaijan Kęstutis Vaskelevičius and Minister Counsellor Viktoras Dagilis was held at the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA IGC in Baku. The main topic was the expansion of Lithuania’s participation in the TRACECA initiative and the discussion of steps to remove barriers on the Europe-Caucasus-Asia route.

Asavbayev announced the establishment of the TRACECA Fund, approved in February 2025, which will help attract investment, provide grants and engage the private sector in key logistics projects. He also noted that Lithuania, as one of the first TRACECA observers, continues to play an important role in promoting the corridor and digitalization of transportation, including the successful implementation of a pilot project for the delivery of goods on semi-trailers.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of digital consignment notes e-CIM/SMGS, electronic permits and the development of the agreement on the Single Transit Permit TRACECA. The participants confirmed their readiness to continue the dialogue to integrate the corridor into global logistics chains and attract new partners.
