The Port of Rotterdam Authority has presented its annual report for 2024, entitled “Navigating to a sustainable future”. Despite geopolitical and economic challenges, the port has demonstrated stability and continued to develop actively. Total investments increased by 11% to €320.6 million. The funds are directed not only towards modernizing the infrastructure, but also towards projects to strengthen social and environmental sustainability.
The largest investments were directed towards expanding the container terminals in Prinses Amaliahaven, building the CO₂ transport and storage system Porthos, widening the Yangtzekanaal and creating the Portlantis, a center dedicated to the port experience. An important objective was to strengthen the connection between the city and the port: last year, collaborations with the Theatre Zuidplein, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the launch of consultation hours for residents in the district hubs were launched.
The report emphasizes the collective contribution of everyone involved in the life of the port. Special attention is paid to innovation, safety and sustainability, as well as the social responsibility of the Port of Rotterdam, which continues to invest in the future, maintaining a balance between economic growth and environmental standards.
