Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan strengthen cooperation in logistics and trade.

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov made an official visit to Baku, where he held talks with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov. The leaders discussed strengthening trade and economic ties, developing transport and logistics cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian initiatives.

Particular attention was paid to increasing trade turnover, which amounted to $533 million in 2024. Kazakhstan plans to increase supplies of non-commodity goods by $340 million. Significant progress was noted in the transport sector: the volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian route increased by 62% to 4.5 million tons, and the railway operators of the two countries completed the integration of the Digital Trade Corridor platform.

Following the meeting, a number of agreements were signed, including a project to build an underwater fiber-optic communication line between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. This project is of strategic importance for improving the quality of communication and data transmission between Asia and Europe. The Azerbaijani side also expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for supporting the restoration of Karabakh.
