China to invest 1 billion yuan in logistics hub in Kazakhstan.

The leadership of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China has decided to allocate 1 billion yuan (137.3 million dollars) for the construction of a transport and logistics hub in Kazakhstan. The issue was discussed in Urumqi at a meeting between Ma Xingrui, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and Nurlan Sauranbayev, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KTZ. The parties noted the record growth in rail transportation between the countries – in 2024, the volume reached 32 million tons.

During the talks, the results of previously discussed projects were summed up, including the construction of second tracks on the Dostyk-Moiynty section and an increase in the volume of transit traffic. Plans for 2025-2026 are also outlined: development of the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing, accelerated implementation of the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway line and the creation of a logistics hub in the Almaty agglomeration.

The parties agreed to create a mixed commission to coordinate cargo transportation by all modes of transport. Persons responsible for all issues have been appointed and tight deadlines for project implementation have been set.
