ADY Express, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, together with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, successfully carried out the first joint cargo transportation via the Middle Corridor. The container train departed from Chongqing (China) to Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Some of the cargo destined for Georgia and Eastern Europe will be delivered via the port of Poti and then across the Black Sea to the Romanian port of Constanta. The remaining containers, bound for Turkey and Germany, will be sent via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway and then continue on to Europe. This project demonstrates the growing role of Azerbaijan as a strategic transit hub.
