Belgian rail operator Lineas and German chemical company Evonik have relaunched a weekly rail service connecting Evonik’s production sites in the Port of Antwerp with Lineas’ main terminal. The new service provides convenient connections to the lo-ro and ro-ro networks, offering logistical flexibility.

The route, which was first launched in 2008 and suspended in 2022 in favor of road transport, is now back in operation. Evonik is focusing on the transition to greener modes of transport: the restoration of the rail connection will reduce the use of road transport by 5,700 trucks per year, reducing the load on the roads and improving the environment.
