KTZ increased freight traffic by 1.1% in the first 9 months of 2024.

In January-September 2024, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy transported about 190 million tons of cargo, which is 1.1% more than in the same period last year. Domestic transportation amounted to 124.4 million tons, and 65.5 million tons were exported. Significant growth was observed in the transportation of coal – 73.3 million tons, of which 52 million tons were sent to the domestic market. Domestic grain transportation increased by 11.2% to 1.7 million tons, with a total of 6.7 million tons of grain transported. 

In addition, over nine months, transportation of oil cargo increased (+2.7%, to 14.4 million tons), ferrous metals (+2.8%, to 3.3 million tons), iron ore and manganese (+3%, to 15.8 million tons), non-ferrous ore and sulfur raw materials (+10.4%, to 18.6 million tons). Also, the export of chemical fertilizers increased by 7.1%, reaching 968 thousand tons.
