Rhenus Group is developing key logistics projects in Central Asia.

During the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Central Asia, Rhenus Group CEO Tobias Bartz is stepping up the implementation of two key projects in the region. In Samarkand, an agreement was signed to establish a joint venture with Uztemiryolkonteyner JSC, a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Railways, which will form the basis for the creation of a modern logistics center in Andijan. A declaration of intent was also signed with the Kazakh company Aktau International Sea Trade Port for the development of an intermodal terminal in the port of Aktau.

Rhenus Group, an international logistics operator, is actively investing in projects in Central Asia, where the company has been present for almost 30 years. The region plays a key role in trade between Asia and Europe, and the recent visit of the German Chancellor underlines the importance of economic ties with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The projects include the establishment of a logistics centre in Andijan and the development of a container terminal in the port of Aktau on the Caspian Sea, which will expand the transport capacity of the alternative route of the New Silk Road. Together with a presence in Turkey and the South Caucasus, this will strengthen the supply chain along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor between Europe and China via Central Asia.
