Polish refiner Orlen has signed a long-term agreement with Lithuania’s KN Energies, giving it exclusive access to the Klaipeda terminal for small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) transhipment. This will allow the company to increase gas supplies to north-eastern Poland and the Baltics. The new agreement will be valid until March 2030.

LNG supplies from the Klaipeda terminal will be delivered by road tankers primarily to north-eastern Poland, which is significantly more efficient than relying solely on the Swinoujscie terminal, which remains the main import hub for Poland. This route is especially important for regions not connected to the main gas grid.

Orlen also imports large volumes of LNG via KN Energies’ floating terminal in Klaipeda, with capacity booked until 2032, allowing the company to import over 500 million cubic meters of gas annually. This gas is distributed to customers in the Baltics and Poland via the GIPL pipeline, which began operating in 2022.
