The transport ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have signed a joint document calling for maintaining and increasing European funding for strategic transport projects aimed at improving military mobility with Europe. The statement underlines the importance of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) in the next EU multiannual financial framework.

According to the ministers, the new EU budget, which will start in 2028, should increase funding to complete projects such as Rail Baltica and develop missing cross-border transport links. Particular attention is paid to the importance of increasing funds for military mobility.

The Rail Baltica project, which will connect the Baltic states with Europe, is planned to be completed by 2030, and the Lithuania-Poland section by 2028. This year, the European Commission has allocated an additional €1.2 billion for its development.
