PTC Cargo together with PTC Freight Agency (PRC) and Poti Transterminal (Georgia) successfully completed the first multimodal transportation on the new route Jinan (China) – Poti/Tbilisi (Georgia). This project, carried out on a door-to-door basis, included the transportation of 56 containers, of which 2 were 20-foot and 54 were 40-foot.
The cargo was first delivered by road from the customer’s plant to the station in China, then sent by rail through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, including a sea leg across the Caspian Sea. Route optimization and cooperation with Chinese partners allowed us to reduce costs in China by 50% and reduce delivery time from 60 to 35 days.
