In September, an anchorage for transshipment of Ukrainian grain will open in Constanta, the head of the Ukrainian Danube Steamship PJSC Dmytro Moskalenko said on his Facebook page.

Romanian colleagues announced this at an online meeting with the participation of representatives of the European Commission, the US government, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. Last year, the UDP initiated the creation of an anchorage in Constanta due to the lack of capacity at the port terminals for processing Ukrainian grain. At that time, up to 600 barges were waiting for unloading at the port, which could take 30-40 days.

Moskalenko noted that the UDP fleet is again transporting grain from Ukrainian ports to Constanta. The creation of an anchorage will strengthen the competitive advantages of the Danube export direction. However, the success of the project depends on reducing logistics costs, in particular, tariffs for rail transportation to Izmail.
