Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov discussed with the head of the CITIC Group Xi Guohua the pace of implementation of joint infrastructure projects. At the meeting, issues of developing Kazakh-Chinese cooperation in the fields of energy and industry were discussed. Currently, with the participation of CITIC Group, major projects are being implemented to reconstruct roads of national importance, including the Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk and Karaganda – Balkhash highways, where construction work is carried out on 24 sections with a total length of 1,131 km.
On the Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk highway, traffic is open on the lower layer of the pavement for 748 km out of 768 km, while work on the upper layer is 48% completed. On the Karaganda-Balkhash highway, traffic is open on the lower layer of the pavement for all 363 km, with the completion of the upper layer at 49%. Additionally, the parties discussed a project to increase the capacity of the JV CASPI BITUM LLP plant to 750 thousand tons per year, which will cover the need for bitumen during the construction season.
The meeting participants emphasized their readiness to develop cooperation in the fields of agriculture, clean energy, environmental protection and digital technologies. The implementation of these projects helps strengthen bilateral relations and contributes to the economic development of both countries.
