Contargo acquires stake in French LDCT terminal.

Contargo Beteiligungs GmbH has acquired a ten percent stake in Lille Dourges Conteneur Terminal SAS (LDCT) in France, which has operated the Dourges terminal since 2003. This strategic investment aims to broaden Contargo’s customer base, enhance service offerings for existing clients, and strengthen its foothold in the French market.

The LDCT serves as France’s largest inland terminal, facilitating barge and rail handling operations in northern France. Situated just 40 kilometers from Contargo’s Bruay-sur-l’Escaut terminal, it plays a pivotal role as a hub linking western seaports with southern Europe via Delta 3, a dedicated logistics site spanning 300 hectares.

The Dourges terminal features extensive rail infrastructure, including seven sidings each 750 meters long and equipped with four portal cranes. Its container depot accommodates approximately 2,500 TEU of full and empty containers, complemented by a 500-meter quay serviced by additional crane facilities. Annually, the terminal handles about 125,000 containers, translating to 450,000 TEU, with around 90 percent transitioning between rail and road transport modes.
