Since 2014, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has been providing reliable transport and logistics services for the Romanian economic zone with the TransFER route between Western Europe and Romania. Environmentally friendly rail transport has become an important element of infrastructure.

With the TransFER Sopron–Bucharest route, RCG transports all types of cargo, including dangerous goods, between Western and Southern Europe and the industrial area of Bucharest. Flights operate twice a week and deliver cargo within 48 hours. Wagons with cargo from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy are assembled into single trains in Sopron and transported to Romania, with the possibility of antenna connections. Launched in 2014, TransFER has evolved into a service that covers the entire process from collection to delivery.
