Ocean Network Express (ONE) announced the launch of the “Science of Container Management” social collaboration program with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tokyo, starting in April 2024. This initiative aims to address the complex and diverse challenges of the modern container industry through an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together experts from various academic fields for long-term collaboration between industry and academia.
The container industry faces multiple challenges, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and recent geopolitical events, which have highlighted the importance of a resilient and reliable supply chain. Key objectives include creating sustainable supply chains, improving the operation of ships and container equipment, and reducing the environmental impact of shipping as part of ESG management. In addition, it is important to prepare a new generation of specialists who can lead the industry into the future.
The ONE-University of Tokyo collaboration program aims to develop a sustainable and flexible container industry through innovation in container economics, risk management, decarbonization and training global talent capable of introducing high-demand technologies into business processes.
