A.P. Moller – Maersk has unveiled a state-of-the-art Cross Dock warehouse at its Maasvlakte II terminal in Rotterdam, aiming to expedite cargo movement from vessel arrival to final destination, particularly in the Benelux, German, and French hinterland. The warehouse, spanning 23,000 sqm with 120 docks and interim storage, welcomed Starbucks as its first client, creating over 200 new jobs at full capacity.
Situated within Europe’s largest port, the Maersk-owned terminal boasts seamless internal road connections, facilitating swift container return to the STAR depot, thus reducing costs for customers. Additionally, the Cross Dock offers bonded customs facilities and dedicated areas for Value Added Services, while a coldstore warehouse for temperature-sensitive goods is slated to commence operations by late 2024.
Aligned with Maersk’s commitment to decarbonize logistics, the Cross Dock is designed for minimal greenhouse gas emissions, adhering to the BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard. Leveraging waste heat from the adjacent coldstore, Maersk anticipates annual energy savings exceeding 200,000 Kilo-Watt-hours, exemplifying its dedication to sustainable practices in the industry.
