MTTF24: Software solutions for efficient transport management.

Dmitrijs Fjodorovs, CIO of SIGIS, spoke on the topic “Software solutions for efficient transport management”. The journey of SIGIS began as a freight forwarding business, given that the founders had previously worked for the former Baltic Railway. For 15 years, they have been actively developing software for companies specializing in freight forwarding by rail, having already served more than 2,000 companies, and continuing to increase their achievements.

Today there is a tendency to accelerate freight transportation, which stimulates the development of new routes and train blocks, including transit through Georgia. Despite the challenges associated with the pandemic and political instability, SIGIS is actively building new infrastructure facilities. An important aspect of industry development is the digitalization of processes, including the introduction of electronic document management and optimization of operations, which the company is ready to present as part of its new development.

“The new application, which we developed more than four years ago, is a web-based solution that can effectively solve various problems in the freight forwarding industry. We have integrated into it the functions of connecting contracts, commercial transactions, accounting for financial transactions and document flow, which makes it a universal tool for companies of different sizes.

The application is presented in two versions – cloud and offline, which allows you to adapt it to the needs of both large and small enterprises. We focused on data security and built a reliable backup system and integration with external services, including accounting programs,” Dmitrijs Fjodorovs presented the application.

At the moment, 18 modules have already been developed and we continue to work on creating new ones to make the application an even more powerful and universal tool for organizing logistics processes.

The new transportation management system is an integrated approach to organizing and automating processes in the field of logistics. The main modules include recording requests for transportation, processing shipping information and calculating the cost of transportation, which speeds up the generation and processing of requests and reduces the number of errors.

The company has developed multimodal solutions that allow rolling stock owners to effectively operate their resources and distribute cars according to requests for various routes. All system modules are closely interconnected, ensuring automatic document flow and minimizing human labor.

“We are committed to further digitalization of the transport industry, creating unique transport solutions that will contribute to increased efficiency and improved processes throughout the industry. Our goal is to take a step forward similar to the industrial revolution in Great Britain and give a new impetus to the development of the logistics business,” Dmitrijs Fjodorovs concluded his speech.

A question followed from the audience: “On the Middle Corridor, after all, document flow is a potential for saving transit time. Maybe on the Northern Corridor this does not affect the processes so much, but specifically in the Middle Corridor, it directly suffers from document flow and the inability to harmoniously transport cargo along sections of the route. How far are we currently from an electronic document that will be accepted in most countries along the transportation route?”

“Of course, many more steps need to be taken, but at least the Kazakh railway is working well.

The following, if we consider the points, there is still no possibility of normality in Uzbekistan, there is no possibility in Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan. Regarding Georgia, unfortunately, I do not have complete information. Even these three territories that stand on this path need to be informed. We have already made commercial proposals, now in particular, for a number of roads, I hope and am confident that this will provide potential for the development of TMTM,” answered Dmitrijs Fjodorovs.
