HHLA TK Estonia welcomed the arrival of the cutting-edge container ship, CMA CGM Mermaid, on April 21 and 22. This new vessel, part of CMA CGM’s fleet renewal initiative, boasts innovative features including a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system, reducing its CO2 emissions by 20% compared to conventional ships.

Ordered as part of CMA CGM’s investment of over $15 billion, the Mermaid is one of ten new generation feeder container vessels with a capacity of 2,000 TEU each. These ships are set to operate in both Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, contributing to the company’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency.

Constructed at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in Busan, South Korea, the CMA CGM Mermaid measures 204 meters in length and 29.6 meters in width. This addition to CMA CGM’s fleet marks another step towards their goal of incorporating low carbon emissions marine fuels into nearly 120 ships by 2028.
