Reduction in Georgia’s foreign trade turnover in the first quarter of 2024

In the first quarter of 2024, Georgia’s foreign trade turnover decreased by 6.5% compared to the same period last year. According to the National Statistics Service (Sakstat), the total turnover amounted to $4 billion 699.4 million, with exports decreasing by 9.3%, reaching $1 billion 325.7 million.

Imports also decreased by 5.3%, amounting to $3 billion 373.6 million. Georgia’s trade balance remained negative and amounted to 43.6% of total turnover, which equals $2 billion 47.9 million. These figures indicate the challenges and resulting changes in the Georgian economy, which require attention and analysis to develop effective strategies for the development of foreign trade.
