AD Ports Group, a leading port and logistics operator from Abu Dhabi, has entered into an agreement with Inveco LLC to acquire 60% of the shares of Tbilisi Dry Port – a new intermodal logistics center in Georgia with customs warehouses and access to the regional railway network. The TDP project, currently owned by Inveco and Wilhelmsen, is planned to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2024.
This key logistics hub is strategically important on the Trans-Caspian international transport route, linking manufacturing centers in Western Asia with consumer markets in Eastern Europe through maritime and “dry” ports in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey. The project offers direct railway connections to the west – with Turkey and the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi, which in turn connect with European Black Sea ports in Bulgaria and Romania, and to the east – via a railway corridor to Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea.
The project will be implemented in three stages. By the end of the first stage, the transshipment capacity of TDP will reach 96.5 thousand TEUs, and by the end of the third stage – 286 thousand TEUs. Operations and management of the facilities will be handled by Noatum Logistics, a part of the AD Ports Group.
