The Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported on achievements and plans for 2024

At today’s meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Minister Marat Karabaev presented the results of work in 2023 and outlined plans for 2024. Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S.A. Ablaliev presented the results of the development of the road industry over the past year and plans for the current year. Representatives of Kazlogistics, T.T. Lesov were also present at the meeting. and Zhagparov Zh.B.

Positive growth dynamics are noticeable in all key indicators of railway transport. In 2023, the volume of railway transportation recorded an increase of 4%, reaching 297.4 million tons. Domestic transport decreased by 1%, while exports and imports increased by 9% and 10% respectively. Container transit also increased by 14%, reaching 1,282 thousand TEU.

A significant part of the efforts is aimed at modernizing the railway infrastructure. In 2023, 557 km of tracks were repaired, and this year it is planned to reconstruct another 570 km. The program for modernizing the railway infrastructure until 2030 provides for the construction of second tracks on 4.8 thousand km, the introduction of automatic blocking on 2.6 thousand km and the development of 184 separate points, requiring about 5 trillion tenge of financing. The issues of updating locomotives and demonopolizing the industry, including the transfer of 162 access roads, were also discussed.
