The Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, highlighted the positive economic impact expected from the construction of the “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan” railway during discussions with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov. Japarov emphasized the significant strategic collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, citing the railway project as a major transit infrastructure initiative that will contribute to the economic development of both nations.
Minister Makhkamov expressed gratitude for Kyrgyzstan’s active involvement in preparing the project. The planned 454-kilometer “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan” railway aims to connect China and Uzbekistan through Kyrgyzstan, eventually linking with the European railway network via Turkmenistan, Iran, and Turkey. Joint financing supported the technical and economic justification for the project, approved in June of the current year. Ongoing discussions among the involved parties focus on determining optimal funding models for the railway construction.
