Port of Tallinn has inked a deal with Estonian Stockpiling Agency (EVK) for the provision of port services at Pakrineeme Harbour, focusing on the LNG quay. Port of Tallinn will manage infrastructure, marine traffic, and pollution control manpower, while EVK retains ownership of Pakrineeme Harbour’s infrastructure. Operating the port remotely from Paldiski and Muuga harbours, Port of Tallinn aims for modern and cost-effective management without on-site personnel or additional facilities.
Valdo Kalm, Chairman of the Management Board at Port of Tallinn, emphasized the contribution to Estonia’s energy security, expressing hope for increased usage of the LNG quay. The four-year contract, extendable for an additional four years, has an annual economic impact of nearly 0.3 million euros for Port of Tallinn. This fixed fee covers infrastructure management, maintenance, and continuous vessel readiness. Additional fees for marine traffic management and mooring-related services will be added for vessel calls, although the full economic impact depends on future vessel activity at Pakrineeme Harbour.
