The Port of Gdańsk has finalized a lease agreement paving the way for BLG AutoTerminal Gdańsk to handle military equipment crucial for the security assurance of Poland’s allies across Europe. The allocated real estate within the inner harbor will serve as a strategic hub for the handling and storage of military assets, as outlined in the 36-month agreement.
This collaboration between the armed forces and cargo handling entities holds significant importance in bolstering the country’s defense, particularly for NATO operations in response to potential threats to Poland’s territory. In times of conflict, the efficient deployment of military contingents heavily relies on maritime transport. AutoTerminal Gdańsk, a key player in the BLG Logistics group, specializes in transport, forwarding, and extensive customs and terminal services. Having previously executed handling operations in the Władysław IV Basin, the company has a track record of overseeing the handling of US Army military equipment at the Port of Gdańsk, contributing to the security efforts in the Baltic region and supporting the permanent presence of US military brigades in Europe.
