Liege Airport (Belgium) and Chicago Rockford International Airport (USA) signed a sister airport partnership agreement at the Air Cargo Southeast Asia event in Singapore. The new alliance aims to strengthen cooperation in transatlantic air cargo transportation, expand traffic between the two hubs, and implement joint marketing and digital projects to improve logistics efficiency and service quality.
The partnership includes joint promotion of services, attracting new air carriers, and sharing expertise in innovation and digital solutions. Leaders from both sides emphasized that the alliance builds on the complementary capabilities of two rapidly growing logistics platforms united by a commitment to technological development and sustainable growth.
Liege Airport is the largest cargo airport in Belgium and the fifth-busiest in Europe by cargo volume, serving 53 cargo airlines and 65 logistics operators. Chicago Rockford International Airport is the 14th-largest cargo airport in the United States and a key hub for UPS, Amazon Air, and Maersk Air Cargo. The new agreement will strengthen both airports’ positions as leading global air logistics hubs and create new commercial opportunities for cooperation between Europe and North America.
