The largest carriers in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan signed major agreements with Boeing during a meeting between Central Asian leaders and the US President in Washington. Kazakhstan’s Air Astana led the way, announcing an additional order for 15 long-haul Boeing 787-9s: five confirmed aircraft, five options, and five purchase rights. Adding three previously ordered aircraft, expected to be delivered in 2026–2027, the company’s future Dreamliner fleet will grow to 18 aircraft with a total list price of $7 billion. The new batch will be delivered between 2032 and 2035.

Tajikistan’s flagship airline, Somon Air, also placed its largest order in its history: ten narrowbody Boeing 737 MAX 8s and, for the first time, four widebody 787-9s. This decision demonstrates the carrier’s commitment to expanding its international presence and modernizing its fleet for long-haul routes.

Uzbekistan Airways converted previously issued options for eight Boeing 787-9 aircraft into firm agreements, bringing its total order for wide-body Dreamliners to 22. These contracts are among the most significant for the region and underscore the Central Asian carrier’s commitment to fleet renewal and strengthening its long-haul programs.
