Polish intermodal carrier Laude Smart Intermodal has launched a new connection between Turkey and the EU via Ukraine. The first train of 50 specialized Laude containers departed from the port of Chornomorsk on November 5 with the participation of Ukrzaliznytsia, marking the beginning of a regular route from the Izmir region (port of Aliaga) to Poland with a reduced delivery time of 10 days.
The company notes that the launch of the route to and from Turkey is the first stage in implementing broader plans to develop regular routes from the EU through Ukraine to the Caucasus, including Georgia and Azerbaijan. This opens up new logistics opportunities for Ukrainian and Polish businesses.
Marcin Witczak, CEO of Laude Smart Intermodal, emphasized that the new connection is a proven alternative to road transport and overland routes through Bulgaria or Romania. According to him, a train departing from Chornomorsk can carry twice the cargo weight of trains assembled in Turkey or Romania.
