ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its logistics network between Europe and Turkey, where the country is becoming a key link in the Middle Corridor connecting Europe, Central Asia, and China. The route provides a stable and faster alternative to sea and air freight, and Turkey serves as a key logistics hub for the Eurasian market.

One of RCG’s key infrastructure advantages is the Marmaray Tunnel, which connects the European and Asian sides of Istanbul under the Bosphorus. RCG remains the only rail operator authorized to transport semi-trailers through the tunnel, enabling seamless transportation of containers, swap bodies, and trailers on intercontinental routes.

The company is actively developing intermodal TransFER connections, including the Budapest–Istanbul and Tekirdag–Curtici routes, and is expanding its network in 2025 with the new Budapest–Curtici route. By complementing these with multimodal door-to-door solutions and traditional rail transport, RCG offers an efficient, environmentally friendly, and accelerated alternative to road and sea freight transport between Europe, the CIS, and Asia.
