KTZ is extensively developing its railway infrastructure to enhance Kazakhstan’s transit potential.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is implementing a comprehensive program to modernize and build new railway lines as part of the objectives set by the President of Kazakhstan to strengthen the country’s transit and logistics potential. Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Board of KTZ, emphasized that Kazakhstan’s advantageous geographic location in the center of Eurasia allows for the development of sustainable international transport corridors and the country’s transformation into a key logistics hub between East and West. The railway plays a key role in this regard, ensuring the growth of transit, export traffic, and integration into global supply chains.

One of the most significant projects was the construction of a second line on the Dostyk-Moiynty section, significantly increasing capacity on the China-Europe route and creating a powerful multiplier effect for the economy. The project produced 1.5 million sleepers, over 100,000 tons of rails, and 2 million cubic meters of aggregate, with 85% of the products manufactured in Kazakhstan. The project involved 80 companies, 2,500 specialists, and over 1,100 pieces of equipment, and pioneered complex engineering solutions, including bridge structures. KTZ is also implementing the strategic Bakhty-Ayagoz and Moiynty-Kyzylzhar projects, which will triple capacity on the China route to 100 million tons per year, reduce travel time to 30 hours, and relieve congested network sections.

Infrastructure development is already yielding tangible results in freight transportation and exports. In recent years, grain and processed product exports to China have increased exponentially: feed shipments increased 18-fold over two years, exceeding 3.2 million tons, while the total volume of grain cargo reached a record 4.3 million tons. KTZ is consistently expanding capacity on key routes, implementing digital solutions, and developing the China-Europe, China-Central Asia, and North-South corridors, creating a modern logistics ecosystem. In doing so, the company is not only modernizing the transport network but also laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth, industrial development, and strengthening Kazakhstan’s position as one of Eurasia’s key transport and logistics hubs.
