The French Foreign Minister discussed support for Ukraine and the Rail Baltica project in Riga.

As part of his official visit to Latvia, French Foreign Minister Stéphane Barrot participated in a flower-laying ceremony at the Freedom Monument, visited the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and held a joint press conference on the current international agenda. Discussions focused on support for Ukraine, cooperation with the EU and NATO, transatlantic relations, and regional security issues.

A separate agenda item included a meeting between the Minister and RB Rail management, including the company’s Technical Director and Board Member, Emilien Dang. The parties exchanged views on the development of regional connectivity and the progress of the Rail Baltica project, emphasizing its strategic importance for transport integration and European security.

The visit was timed to coincide with the 105th anniversary of Latvia’s international recognition and also included a joint meeting with the foreign ministers of the other Baltic states. The French side noted the high level of organization of the visit and expressed gratitude to the French Embassy in Riga.
