The first event of the “Port meets mainland” series, organized by JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven in collaboration with industry partners, took place in Duisburg, Germany, this year. The event attracted approximately 120 participants, setting a record for attendance. The initiative, implemented with the participation of Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven, JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG, EUROGATE Group, NORDFROST, Hapag-Lloyd AG, and TFG Transfracht, aims to foster direct dialogue between ports, operators, logistics companies, and industry across the entire transport chain.

TFG Transfracht has been a regular partner of the event series since 2017. The events are held annually in five to seven cities across Germany and Austria, bringing together market participants to discuss the development of transport corridors and improving the efficiency of logistics processes. The central theme of the meeting in Duisburg was the strategic role of JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven in the international logistics system. The port, Germany’s only deep-water port, provides stable conditions for the growth of container shipping, while the industrialized Ruhr region serves as a key hub with its well-developed intermodal infrastructure.

Participants placed particular emphasis on the importance of stable and efficient rail connections between seaports and hinterland regions. TFG Transfracht provides high-frequency connections between JadeWeserPort and key economic hubs in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland via the AlbatrosExpress network, with approximately 150 rail departures per week. Regular routes, including via Dortmund to Duisburg, enable efficient and environmentally friendly container transport to the hinterland. DB Cargo emphasizes that the development of such partnership networks and rail logistics forms the foundation for sustainable and competitive supply chains.
